Museum of Kovrov as a City of Armoury Glory
The Museum leverages state-of-the-art technologies to introduce its visitors to the history of establishment and development of the Kovrov armouries from the beginning of the 20th century to the 21st century. The museum has various types of weapons, equipment, devices and components of weapon complexes, documents, photos, personal belongings of Kovrov gunsmiths and other historical personalities, which made it possible to create unique modern exposition dedicated to Kovrov weapons.
Along with Tula and Izhevsk, Kovrov is one of Russia's three weaponry capitals. In 2020–2021, the town worked to create and open the country's third museum on the history of Russian weapons.
The Museum offers excursions such as Kovrov as the Forge of Victory Weapons dedicated to the history of the Kovrov armoury school from its beginnings in 1916–1921 to the end of the Second World War; Kovrov as the Defence Shield of Russia dedicated to the post-war period of the Kovrov armoury school development from 1945 to the early 2000s, as well as a full tour of the museum with a detailed account of the history of armoury production in Kovrov from 1916 to the early 2000s.
