Bylina Stone
At the northern entrance to the ancient city of Murom from the side of Vladimir, there is a stone sculpture of Ilya Muromets. Locals honour the memory of the legendary hero, who, according to folk legends, was born in Karacharovo, near Murom.
The Bylina Stone is the main local attraction in terms of historical significance. An inscription from the chronicles is carved on the stone: 'In the summer of 6370 (862) the first people settled in Murom...' Pine trees grow near the stone, and everyone recalls the famous folk song Three Pine Trees Stood on the Murom path... (1967). Artist S.A. Nikolayev, architect N.A. Bespalov.
