Memorial House Museum of Vasily Degtyarev
From 1924, it was the home of Vasily Degtyarev (1880–1949), a native of Tula, an outstanding designer of automatic firearms, a Major General of the Engineering and Artillery Service, a Doctor of Engineering Sciences, a Hero of Socialist Labour, and a four times laureate of the State Prize.
At the beginning of one of the central streets of Kovrov, there is a small cosy blue wooden house built at the end of the 19th century. In 1978, a House Museum was opened in this building. It consists of two large sections: historical and memorial.
The first one is dedicated to the design activities and work of Vasily Degtyarev, Vladimir Fyodorov, and other creators of automatic weapons, whose inventions ensured our country's defence capability for many years and contributed to the victory in the Second World War in 1945.
The second one features unique exhibition consisting of the designer's living room, dining room, study, and workshop. It displays almost entirely authentic belongings of the designer and his family and reproduces in detail the atmosphere of the house during the lifetime of Vasily Degtyarev.
