Khlebnaya Gornitsa museum
The museum is always willing to familiarize travellers with the development of the kalach making in Murom, the history of gingerbread in Russia, and the difficult path of cakes before they took the form we all know.
The guests of the Khlebnaya Gornitsa (Bread Room) can drink tea with tasty pastries, as well as buy kalach, gingerbread, souvenirs and products of Murom craftsmen. There are three halls available to visitors: the main one featuring expositions devoted to the programmes Kalach Row, The History of Borodinsky Bread, and the Muromsky Pekar enterprise; a fairy-tale gingerbread house and the workshop of a gingerbread artist, whose work you can watch.
As part of the museum's excursion programme, the visitors can attend master classes in gingerbread painting, pizza, and Murom kalach baking.
If you don't want to stick to a single topic, choose an extended comprehensive programme called The History of Bread in Russia. Younger schoolchildren will be interested in career guidance programmes, such as Bakery or Confectionery. Festive, themed programmes for Christmas, Maslenitsa or Easter are a must-see.
