The idea to establish this museum in Kirzhach rather than anywhere else is due to the fact that in the Soviet times the central Russia's largest geological surveying party was located in Kirzhach. The glacial rocks that are so notably abundant in the north of the Kirzhach area result from the formation of the Klinsko-Dmitrovskaya Ridge in ancient time. And the highest points of Kirzhach, Selivanova Gora and Krucha where the Blagoveshchensky Monastery is located, are also the result of the glacier's effect.
