Manufacturer S.I. Dumnov's Estate Museum
Excursions and accommodation, ceremonies and business events in the interiors of the 19th century estate.
Galina Maslennikova, a famous Moscow doll artist and a granddaughter of S.I. Dumnov, a silk manufacturer, restored her grandfather's estate and house with love and historical accuracy.
The interiors of the merchant's house, the 19th century furniture recreate the household atmosphere of a large Russian family where four generations had been engaged in a unique industry – the manufacture of silk velvet.
Today this vanished and forgotten trade is featured in the estate which has become Russia's only Museum of Silk Velvet Handweaving displaying some operating silk weaving looms, old silk fabric and clothes made of it.
The museum also includes the 19th Century Russian Village World exhibition displaying the amazing dolls made in Galina's workshop.
The uniqueness of the museum is that it offers its guests not only visiting it for an excursion but also spending some time in the merchant's house, tasting traditional meals cooked in a Russian stove, and having a family celebration or favourite holidays.
