Svyato-Troitsky Convent
The Troitsky (Holy Trinity) Convent was founded on the site of the Old High Town, and Prince Konstantin, considered to be the baptist of Murom, put a wooden church in the name of Saints Boris and Gleb in its place in the 12th century. In 1642–1643, Tarasy Tsvetnov, a merchant, initiated the construction of a five-domed stone Holy Trinity Cathedral on the site of the old wooden church.
The main decoration of the Holy Trinity Cathedral is remarkable forged gilded crosses made by the Murom craftsmen of the 17th century and watered tiles of the same century with various ornaments. The tiles give the Trinity Cathedral a special elegance and unique individuality that distinguishes it from other Murom temples. The style of this Сathedral is referred to as Russian patterning.
Since the foundation of the Convent, the Vilna reliquary cross has been kept here.
In 1992, the relics of Holy Blessed Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia were brought there to become the main relic of the monastery.
