The Taneyevs' Estate
The estate of the Taneev family is a monument to noble estates of the 18th through 19th centuries preserved almost in its original form. It currently hosts a museum complex.
The Marinino estate was the place of sumptuous receptions and balls attended by the nobility of the district and the province.
State secretaries and maids of honour, composers and philosophers, generals and officers, guardsmen and hussars, they all came from the Marinino estate, from the Taneyev family.
Sergei Taneyev, a Russian composer, is well known both in Russia and abroad. Sergei Taneyev was a graduate and then director of the Moscow Conservatory, a student of Nikolai Rubinstein and Pyotr Tchaikovsky, a mentor of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Alexander Skryabin, and Reinhold Glière, as well as a musicologist. He made a huge contribution to the Russian musical culture.
In 2006б the restoration of the estate began, and since 2008, the estate in Marinino has been a branch of the Local History and Lore Museum of the Kovrov District.
