Exhibition Hall (Semyonychev's House)

The exhibition hall of the Gorokhovets Historical and Architectural Museum was opened in 2010 in the house of Semyon Semyonychev, a second guild merchant. Its friendly atmosphere and state-of-the-art equipment make the exhibition hall one of the favourite cultural entertainment places for the residents and guests of Gorokhovets. Visitors can attend district-, region-, and nation-level rotating exhibitions. They feature paintings, masterpieces of applied craftsmanship, and works of famous photographers, as well as authentic antiques from the stock collections of the Gorokhovets Museum and relics of travelling exhibitions of the country's museums.
The two-storey house was built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries by Semyon Semyonychev, a merchant and a factory owner from Gorokhovets. It was constructed in two phases, and a part of the early house – a stone outbuilding in the courtyard – survive to this day. The principal façade of the house faces the town's main street.

The patterned brick walls are decorated with white stone and light coloured cement inserts. The building looks especially expressive thanks to the four scaled turrets above its corners. In the 20th century, the ground floor of the building housed a municipal and later a state bank, with its specifics reflected in the architecture.

The most interesting part of the first floor interior is the authentic Dutch brick ovens lined with white and golden-brown relief tiles with floral and geometric designs.
