Taneev Estate, Kovrov District, Marinino Village
The estate of the Taneev family is a monument to noble estates of the 18th through 19th centuries preserved almost in its original form. For more than 300 years, the estate was owned by one noble family, the Taneevs. The name of the outstanding Russian composer Sergei Ivanovich Taneev, who made a huge contribution to the Russian musical culture, is also associated with this place.
The central house of the estate is an authentic building of the mid-18th century. The house was built in 1758 by Mikhail Taneev, a retired major. In the middle of the 19th century, a park with excavation ponds, grottoes, a gazebo on an embankment, and marble sculptures was laid out around the central house. Even now, the estate park looks amazing – beautiful and well-groomed ponds, gazebos, swings, bridges and many flowers!
Currently, the estate is a branch of the Kovrov District Museum of History and Local Lore.

Golitsyn Estate, Yuriev-Polsky district, Sima village

In the second half of the 18th century, a beautiful two-storey manor house was built with a mezzanine in the centre and wings on the sides. Behind the house there was a large regular park.
The estate became famous thanks to the name of Pyotr Ivanovich Bagration, the hero of the Battle of Borodino, who was a relative of the Golitsyns. The wounded commander was brought to this place, where he died and was buried.
The main house of the Golitsyns with a park, two outbuildings of the estate, and the Church of Dmitry of Thessaloniki in the estate have survived to this day. At the site of the first burial of P.I. Bagration in the village of Sima there is an obelisk, and there is a library and a folk museum dedicated to the history of the estate, its owners and P.I. Bagration.
