Stoletovs House Museum

The museum first opened its doors on 28 May 1976 in an outbuilding dating back to the middle of the nineteenth century, next to the large two-storey brick house owned by the Stoletovs family, who were merchants. The cosy one-storey wooden house, which is typical for the city buildings of the nineteenth century, is located in the heart of the city, right by the ancient ramparts on the old street, which now bears the name of its owners.

The surviving drawings show that the original layout of the building was restored, and a wonderful exhibition was created. It really captures the essence of the bygone era and the way of life of the merchant family, which was made famous in Russia and abroad by its two representatives, Alexander Grigorievich and Nikolay Grigorievich Stoletovs.
